woothemes.com/2008/11… That theme is gorgeous, btw. And free! Widgets! Threaded comments! Wahh! Using it for druid blog until I make a design.

Really really reminds me of Tumblr… especially the header text and colors. And what’s up with the page links being serifs?! Nice theme, though. I’m just really picky I guess, heh.

It’s not perfect, admittedly. I’m bothered by several things design-wise but honestly… I usually am, even with my own. As for the similarities between it and Tumblr, I don’t see any other than the blue - and I’m not keeping the blue. :P

I mainly raved about it because man it is HARD to find a decent looking theme for WordPress unless you pay for it. And it’s hard to find a decent looking theme that supports widgets and threaded comments period.

My point is: I know it’s not the most staggering design out there and never meant to come across as that being so. The limitations of Twitter, yeah? :)

I’m terrified of heights and in general get no kicks from rollercoasters… but I’m going anyway. I wish more than anything that Ben were coming with because he’s sort of my safe place. In fact, the plan from the beginning was that he would come but he can’t exactly ask off of work for his internship and my friend Molly, who planned it, chose a Monday to avoid most of the crowds.

Batman, I love. Dark Knight, I’m excited for but also nervous about. It’s going to be dark - obviously - and more like a haunted house ride, at least from what I’ve read about on the Six Flags main site.

I have a feeling that those are the only two I’ll be able to muster up the guts for.

Reading List

moosetracks:

Wow, haha, thanks a lot for the list. They sound interesting. I don’t care so much about the sex things, I can handle it. I wrote them down in my phone, so once I finish the books I just got from the library, I’ll take a look to see if they’re available. The library here has such a small collection, I’m doubtful, but we’ll see.

Oh, and when I first saw the first book on the list, I was like “Anything..that’s an interesting title.” Shadow’s a moron, but it’s all good. =)

Yeah, I sort of changed up how I started listing the series/titles in the middle of that. Sorry! XD;

Reading List

moosetracks:

So I now have a lot of free time on my hands, and generally to solve that issue, I read…a lot. So I want to know, which books would people suggest? The genres I enjoy reading are realistic fiction, romance, fantasy, and chick lit (haha, yay me). Even if they don’t fall into any of those genres, any suggestions on good books to read would be much appreciated. =)

I really don’t read as much as I used to, but these are some of my all-time favorite books. Sounds like you’d be interested in most of them, too, so here goes! :)

  • Anything by Juliet Marillier. I’ve read the Sevenwaters Trilogy (it starts with Daughter of the Forest), as well as Wolfskin and its sequel, Foxmask. It’s sort of a combination of realistic fiction, romance and fantasy. I love these books and at the same time hate them; the stories are all so bittersweetly perfect.
  • Dragonlance, specifically the books by Weis & Hickman. Ben and I absolutely love these. I’ve only read the Dragonlance Chronicles Trilogy and the War of Souls Trilogy, but there are several others that Ben has lent to me. I couldn’t tell you the proper order to read the various trilogies in, though - sorry! It’s mostly Weis & Hickman that do these, but there are a few other authors in the mix - I’ve just never read them.
  • The Wayfarer Redemption by Sara Douglass. This is a long but very, very worth it series. I don’t think I’ve even read all the books in it yet (I think there are about six or so total)! Mostly due to the fact that she’s Australian, and I started reading these when they were starting to be published/released in the US… I just sort of lost track. She’s written several other series as well that you may want to look into if you like this one.
  • Hammer of the Earth by Susan Krinard. This is the second book of a cancelled series (and I only just discovered those two facts) but it was still pretty good. The first was Shield of the Sky, which I actually haven’t read. I liked it and feel like it’s still worth a read - just beware that the story will never actually be wrapped up due to the publisher cancelling it. :/
  • The Belgariad by David Eddings. I absolutely love these; The Belgariad is actually a volume containing three books of the same series. There are two volumes total for The Belgariad and it’s followed by The Malloreon which is, again, about two volumes that contain several books. Very, very good!
  • Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey. I did really enjoy this book and plan to read the rest of the series, but I should mention right away that these are very sex-focused. Well, not so much “sex-focused” as there’s just a lot of sex written in it (the main character is something like a prostitute, so obviously it’s a major theme). But I promise there was plot and it wasn’t just porn! Warning: If you don’t like reading the pr0ns, don’t read this series. You have to read the pr0ns to get to the plot.
  • Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix. This is a more popular series, so you may have read it already. A little less ‘adult’ than the previous books listed, but it’s still very, very good - at least in my opinion.

And the grande finale!

  • The Silver Wolf by Alice Borchardt. Another series, haha! But seriously, it’s good - especially for wolf roleplayers like ourselves. I haven’t read these in a long time but they were amazing. It takes place in Rome or thereabouts, and focuses on wolf shapeshifters. Really, really loved these! Just a warning, though, that there were some pretty explicit sex scenes. Unlike Kushiel’s Dart, however, they are not key to the plot, do not last as long and do not happen very often.

I’ll leave you with those for now; should be enough to get you started! And if you like them, feel free to talk to me and I’ll fill you in on some of the other books I’ve read. Note that most of the books I read are very ‘adult’ in that there is a lot of sex and violence in them… what can I say? I’m a perv! I did make sure to let you know the series that I could imagine people seeing as most offensive.

But you read romance, so hey, you shouldn’t care much - right? XD;

Anywaaays! Thanks for this! It was fun and brought my attention to a few things:

  1. I’m a series junkie. Seriously, I had no idea until I wrote these all out!
  2. I really need to start reading more! I haven’t actively read in a long time.
  3. I also really need to re-read some of these, as well as move on to the books I haven’t read in certain mentioned series.

don't really know what the problem is.

Pretty irritated at the fact that DreamHost doesn’t handle changes to a subdomain’s A-Record very well. Supposively, the new A-Record you submit for a subdomain will overwrite the default DreamHost record. Not so; it just seems to bounce back and forth between the two and mostly lands on the default. It could be that the DNS hasn’t fully propegated yet, but I doubt it - it’s been over 72 hours from what I can figure.

I’ll be talking to them soon if I actually wind up doing something substantial with this. Just… very, very annoyed. Until then, I’ve disabled my tumblr’s custom domain feature.

Drivers Test

moosetracks:

So in Indiana, the law states that with a Drivers Education Permit, you have to wait 30 days after you turn 16 in order to take the test. June 20th is day 30 for me. I am absolutely freaking out; not because I think I’ll do a bad job (because I’m really not that bad of a driver), but because I have this feeling my nerves will just get the best of me. I haven’t parallel parked in forever, which makes me scared. I also have developed this really bad habit of not stopping when a light turns yellow, even if I should. I generally just go on through; always before it hits red, but yeah. I’m just afraid I won’t make it one of these times.

Any words of advice?

I’m not the best person to be giving advice as I don’t have my license, but keep in mind that if you fail - it’s really not a big deal. You can take it again. And again and again. Most people I know have failed their driver’s test at least once and some more than that. I failed it my first (and only) time because I let my nerves get the better of me.

Just try to relax. Remember that it’s no big deal, and that no matter what you’ll get it eventually.
